A PEOPLE’S JOURNEY.
Francis in Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius
From 4 to 10 September, Pope Francis visited Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius.
In the press conference on the plane during the return flight, he pointed out that the real protagonists of his 31st international apostolic journey were the people.
At times it was about a people with deep roots across time and space and their ancient traditions; though, in Mozambique the people are divided by struggles between brothers.
Instead, in Mauritius, a people has recently been formed by different ethnic groups, languages and religions, but who have established a solid unity and have become accustomed to the dialogue of differences.
To the people of the three countries he was able to unfold both a vision of the Church, and a vision of civil society and its challenges – in particular that which binds in the shared custodianship of the common house and social justice – and a commitment to dialogue between religions to reaffirm and promote universal brotherhood.
