RECONCILIATION AND HUMAN RELATIONS. ENRICHING CONCEPTS
In this article the author considers the possible crisis in the connection between relations and identity and how this can be overcome through reconciliation.
Today’s society, which Bauman characterized as a “postmodern fluid society”, seems to have weakened the need for reconciliation, as the breakdown of relationships becomes the very condition of their anxiety-producing consumption.
Yet, it is precisely the frantic postmodern search for identity that makes it possible to place reconciliation at its deepest level, that is, at the very level of the human being’s ability to relate.
As Scripture shows, reconciliation between human beings passes through the relationship of the covenant with God, whose love and fidelity never fail.
