THE MYSTERY OF CHRISTMAS

Christmas is the mystery of the Incarnation and the announcement of our salvation. God, the Eternal, the Almighty, is incarnate in Jesus and born as a child, to share with man the precariousness and the poverty of existence.

The prophecy of «Emmanuel», «God with us», is realized. Christmas is an absolute novelty in history and marks a watershed moment between the «before Christ» and the «after Christ».

Next to Jesus, Mary and Joseph, the shepherds and the Three Wise Men; yet, there is also the darkness, which rejects light, but it cannot overwhelm it.

The Lord has come into the world and has set up his dwelling among us, to make us part of his fullness, after participating in our misery, and to give us joy and peace.
