YOUTH, CULTURE AND DISCERNMENT. The experience of Augustine and Basil
Young people spend most of their time at school, and it is at school that they receive the culture which as a foundation will make them active citizens and protagonists in society. In addition, while school is practically the only provider of scientific knowledge, various agents of different value contribute to culture in its broader sense. There is, therefore, a need for «discernment».
But who is it that teaches young people how to distinguish what is true, just and good from what is false, misleading, destructive?
This is why it is very important for them to come into contact with humanistic culture. The article brings up to date the experience of two fathers of the Church, such as Augustine and Basil.
